Nightshelter

Nightshelter Project

Merton Winter Night Shelter started in 2011 as a project bringing together faith groups and others from across the local area to provide a warm place indoors for people to sleep in the coldest months of the year.

Holy Trinity is one of 14 venues for this project. Guests receive an evening meal and a time to socialise, a warm place to sleep, and breakfast in the morning. Once they have their place, they can return each night for the whole 3 months the project runs.

It's been amazing to see a huge number of volunteers - over 200 - from across the area give time to this wonderful venture. Volunteers speak movingly of the way this practical support builds relationships and is a tangible way of living out faith in daily life. For more details see here.

2019/2020

The Nightshelter will run at Holy Trinity from the 23 January to the 6 March 2020. We need volunteers to cover an evening shift every Thursday between 6.00 and 10.00pm, an overnight shift from 10.00pm to 6.00am and a Friday morning shift from 6.00 to 9.00am. In addition to this there are other volunteering opportunities (details of which are on the volunteering form). To indicate how you can help, please complete the volunteering form which is available here or at the back of the church.

Training will be arranged by the YMCA and we are waiting for confirmation of the dates.

Please do sign up to help if you can. This is a wonderful opportunity to help those less fortunate than ourselves by providing food and shelter during the winter months.
